iPod Volume Issue
Q: I have this one song in my iPod that plays at extremely high volume and I can't figure out why.
I have both iTunes and my iPod set for "sound check," which is supposed to automatically set the volume level
of all my songs, but this one song is super loud anyway. Why?
A: There are two ways to adjust the volume of your songs in iTunes. One of them is "sound check,"
and the other one is in the "Options" tab of the "Get Info" box for a song, where you can manually
adjust the volume of that one song with a slider. In iTunes, Sound Check overrides the setting of this slider, but
the iPod appears to combine the two, first making all the songs the same with Sound Check, then adding on any volume
adjustment you set with the slider. So if you have one song where the slider is set well above zero (the middle),
and you have Sound Check on, that song's volume will be much louder on your iPod, but not when played from
iTunes.
